Scabies Infection : Its Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

Scabies mainly affects the sensitive skin which occurs due to microscopic mite called as sarcoptes scabei.  Even the name itself defines a lot about this infection which affects the skin; the name “ scab ere” is derived from Latin word which means “scratch”.  This microorganism digs holes in your skin and makes borrow by making these scrapping like hell by their own. Such type of parasites can easily be viewed through the naked eye.

Since you know the main reason of this skin scabies is mites who dig the holes under the skin and one can have an icy sensation on the affected area caused through those mites. This is communicable infection which can easily be transferred through physical contact or through the use of personal belongings of infected person. It takes at least six weeks to notice the symptoms of this disease. During this infection, itching is more severe that ias more during night as compared to day. The most affected parts with it are waist, abdomen and waist.

The symptoms of the infection are:

  • Intense itching in the body parts.
  • Pimple-like irritations.
  • It may cause sores when scratched.

The treatment of this infection is done through lotions that consist of crotamiton, lindane and permethrin. This lotion is easily available in the market but has to be bought after consulting a doctor or dermatologist. It can be used on the entire body except the neck and head. The patient is highly recommended to remain away from the family members as they can also be easily affected through this infection although they may not show any symptoms of this infection. Till now Permethrin is considered to be the best lotion as it is completely safe, friendly and effective for your skin. After applying this lotion, it should be left for at least eight hours. But if one is using it for infants, it should be properly diluted with water and then applied on the affected parts as it may cause skin irritation.

This can easily affect all the people of every age group without a discrimination. It is mostly affects the people in poor nations but in the developed countries where there is a good hygiene system, it rarely affects the people.
